Botswana travel guide

Botswana

Water, woodland, time.

The Loop Take

CHOOSE WATER OR WILDLIFE FIRST.

Botswana is not one safari. Start by deciding whether the Okavango’s water is the priority, or whether you want more time for land-based game drives. Then give each camp at least three nights. Moving every day makes a safari feel like a transfer schedule.

Ways to do Botswana

TWO CAMPS CAN BE ENOUGH.

These are sensible first-trip shapes, not fixed packages.

01

Okavango, then Moremi or Khwai

A water-influenced camp followed by a land-and-river camp. It gives you different landscapes without an overfull route.

02

Chobe and Linyanti

Choose this when a river-focused northern safari is the priority, rather than adding it to an already full Delta route.

03

Desert Botswana

Makgadikgadi or the Central Kalahari are better as a dedicated landscape chapter, not a quick diversion.

Where to stay

THE CAMP LOCATION CHANGES THE DAY.

Camp choice is about the habitat, activity mix and transfer logic. We choose the sequence around what you want to do, not a generic safari checklist.

01

Okavango Delta

For waterways and seasonal floodplain landscapes. Water levels and activities are checked for the dates.

02

Moremi and Khwai

For mixed habitats and land-based wildlife time after a water chapter.

03

Chobe and Linyanti

For river and woodland landscapes in the north.

When to go

LET THE WATER LEVELS SHAPE THE PLAN.

The Okavango’s flood pattern, park conditions and wildlife activity vary by season. We start with your dates and decide which area is the better fit, rather than promising a particular encounter or water level.

A good time for

Water-led trips

Check the seasonal flood pattern and camp access for the actual dates.

A good time for

Land and wildlife time

Plan around habitat and time in the area, never a promised animal list.

A good time for

Transfers

Light-aircraft routing and baggage allowances are confirmed against the chosen camps.

Good to know

KEEP THE LOGISTICS REALISTIC.

Entry rules, road conditions, camp access and light-aircraft arrangements need checking before travel. Soft luggage and daytime transfers are often practical planning considerations, but each final route has its own operating detail.

Entry

Check current passport, visa and supporting-document requirements for your nationality before booking.

Light aircraft

Baggage, routing and operating conditions are checked with the chosen service and dates.

Wildlife

We plan around habitat and responsible viewing. A sighting is never promised.

A shape to begin with

WATER, WOODLAND, TIME.

An illustrative eight-night Botswana route with four nights around the Delta and four in a second land-and-river camp. It gives each place enough time without trying to add every safari area.
